Nagios XI’s plans are primarily based on the node-count of the license. A node, sometimes referred to as a host, is any unique IP or Web URL. We offer plans ranging from 50 nodes to unlimited nodes and many options in between, as well as a free option which is great for home setups, trialing the product, or students in the IT field who want to learn using XI.
XI also offers an Enterprise add-on which enhances the software’s capabilities. This addition allows users to schedule reports, project future values with capacity planning, and much more. Refer to our Enterprise documentation or contact a Nagios sales representative to learn more about the capabilities of the Enterprise-level license.
To help with choosing the right license, we have created the XI Plan Calculator to point you in the right direction.
Nagios Log Server’s plans, unlike XI, are based on your cluster’s instances.
Because of the way Log Server distributes logs across the cluster to create redundancy, we do not recommend a single-instance license, but we do offer it to those who know the risk and accept the trade-off.
Log Server plans range from single-instance up to 20-instance and beyond, depending on the scale of the customer. The more instances you have, the safer your data will be in general. Instances are able to be added with ease, so choosing a license level will not block you from expanding in the future. Increasing your instance count will also increase your query speeds, up to a threshold determined by the hardware. User count and retention are also uncapped and limited only by hardware capabilities.
Nagios does not recommend single-instance Log Server deployments, but we do offer them to those who understand the trade-off.
Single-Instance deployments do not offer redundancy or failover in the event of system failures due to the nature of Log Server’s sharding and clustering process.
Nagios Network Analyzer offers only a single license option and has no user limit.
Due to the nature of its implementation, Nagios Fusion also offers only a single license option. This license can be thought of as an add-on to any other licenses, as Fusion is a data centralization software.
