This is a baseline estimation for licensing and should be used only as a guide.
There are many variables not accounted for which can affect license level determination (e.g., active and passive checks, service check interval, hardware capabilities, and more).
It is encouraged to speak with a Nagios representative for an accurate assessment.

The calculator’s “Services” modules assume each service runs the default of one check every five minutes (12 checks per hour). This is the default setting of Nagios XI’s wizards and can be adjusted as needed within Nagios XI.
A standard provisioned Unlimited Node instance of XI can handle 10,000-20,000 checks running on a 5 minute interval.
See our documentation on Hardware Requirements to learn more.
A Node, also referred to as a Host, is any unique IP or web URL.
Nagios XI provides monitoring of the nodes within your environment, reporting back metrics selected by the admin for alerting, graphing, and reporting.
Services encompass the messages and data types exchanged between Nagios XI and nodes.
These services span a wide range of functions, from verifying reachability (ping) to monitoring printer ink levels, available drive space, and everything in between.
Rough estimations of other industry terminology as it relates to Nagios’s Node for the sake of comparing licenses.
