Sam Napier is a Product Advisor at Nagios. He is a Nagios XI Subject Matter Expert, Monitoring Architect, a self-proclaimed Observability Nerd, and has been working in IT long enough to remember the y2k bug hype. The outcomes he helps teams achieve are creating reliable methods of monitoring and integration with ITOM, ITIL Applications while applying an SRE mentality to reducing the toil in the process.
What initially drew him into the topic is that it seems that no matter what field of Nagios XI powered Infrastructure monitoring you’re planning to deploy, the number 1 question is “what should the thresholds be set at?”

Monitoring Proxmox with Nagios XI
This session covers Proxmox monitoring with Nagios XI. We’ll discuss what metrics are available in the Proxmox API, introduce Proxmoxer and the monitoring wizard, and walk through using the Proxmox monitoring wizards to create host and service objects in Nagios XI, including what’s created within CCM and advanced configuration with macros.
Leveraging Influx
It seems that no matter what field of Nagios XI-powered infrastructure monitoring you are planning to deploy into, the number one question is "What should the thresholds be set at?" Sam has always wanted the data and a method of analysis to answer that question. This session dives into how Nagios has been working to address this with Nagios XI Time-Series Database (NTSDB). With NTSDB, Nagios XI now has time-series data, so you can say bye-bye to RRDs and so long to guesswork!
