About The Speaker
Dorancé Martínez is a Lead Platform Engineer with over 25 years of experience in IT infrastructure. Throughout his career at global companies, he has focused on improving reliability and scaling systems through automation. He has extensive expertise in Ansible, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
He is passionate about automation and specializes in “Monitoring as Code,” helping teams transition from manual configurations to automated, version-controlled workflows. His interest in this session’s topic comes from years of managing operational pain: manual errors, lack of audit trails, and the need for validated deployments. When he is not automating infrastructure, Dorancé enjoys staying active outdoors through cycling, running, and walking. He is also a home automation enthusiast, experimenting with Home Assistant.
Automating Nagios Monitoring with Ansible
This session focuses on Nagios configuration management. We will reference an existing Ansible collection that handles both Nagios Core and Nagios XI, focusing on managing hosts, services, and groups with Ansible, where the Git repository serves as the single source of truth. The session covers Jinja2 templating to generate complex monitoring logic from simple YAML variables and explores a Git-based workflow where every push triggers a CI pipeline validation before an automated reload reaches production.
What I Hope You Learn
Attendees will learn how to transition from manual configurations to an automated, idempotent, and version-controlled monitoring environment, reducing friction and providing a clear audit trail for all changes.
A live technical presentation featuring a pipeline demo on two running environments -Nagios Core and Nagios XI- where configuration changes are deployed via Ansible in real time.
