Nagios Community Recognition Program

How it works

This program recognizes the hard work and contributions made by our community members across the internet. The bigger the contribution, the bigger the recognition. Nagios will be monitoring contributions submitted via the form below, and hosted on sites like GitHubReddit, the Nagios Support ForumNagios Exchange, and more. The Nagios Community Recognition Program has three different levels:

Examples:

  • Write a plugin, host it on GitHub, and submit it to the Nagios Exchange. Several users find the plugin interesting and download it – you discuss potential optimizations with them. You update your plugin appropriately, and let the users know that the changes have been implemented. You also release thorough documentation.

  • Write an article on a website and submit it to the Nagios Exchange and mention it on #nagios(freenode IRC). The article receives several hits and is mentioned on Social Media. The comments of your article point out inconsistencies and you make adjustments accordingly. There is ongoing discussion in the comments section of the article between the writer and commenters.

Level Three: Community Fanatic

Contributors can earn this badge by submitting a plugin, document, or other item of high significance to a public community channel.

Examples:

  • Write a mature plugin, host it on GitHub, and submit it to the Nagios Exchange. The plugin is widely used and well documented. Any features requested by the community are addressed by the developer, who maintains an active role in the plugins development cycle. Ultimately the plugin must be very well received, documented, and developed.

  • Write a high-profile article/blog post and link it to several of our social outlets. The article/blog generates social media attention, discussion occurs in the comments section of the blog post/article, and additions/changes are made as necessary by the author. Because the article generated a lot of attention, the author decides to make it several parts long.
