We’re looking for a knowledgeable Software Test Engineer. This position requires a strong knowledge of Linux, basic scripting, and debugging skills. You will be working with the QA team and customers to identify and test software issues, and bug fixes. Additionally, you will be helping with support, and technical documentation.

Job Duties:

  • Identifying and improving current testing processes as well as creating new testing automation practices
  • Reviewing change logs and tasks in the internal issue tracking system to test and develop testing strategies
  • Actively searching for issues in all Nagios commercial and open source products
  • Conducting software tests – installs, upgrades, unit and functional tests, UI and API testing
  • Identifying and verifying issues discovered by internal or external sources
  • Filing detailed bug reports for verified issues
  • Completing “bug fix” testing tasks before the deadline, ensuring problems have been corrected
  • Documenting the test results in the testing tasks before closing them
  • Reviewing technical documentation on the Nagios Library and Nagios Support Knowledgebase (KB) on a regular basis
  • Determining if documentation needs to be updated before releases

Required Technical Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal skills and grasp of the English language
  • Local to the Minneapolis/Saint Paul metro area
  • 3+ Years work experience in software testing and quality assurance
  • Working knowledge of Jenkins and Ansible
  • Strong Linux knowledge and ability to use Linux command line
  • Experience with Debugging and troubleshooting skills on Linux
  • Some experience with Scripting (Perl, Shell, Python, etc)
  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to learn quickly

Preferred Technical Qualifications:

  • Experience with TestCafe
  • Experience with Groovy Pipeline scripting
  • Experience with VMware (e.g. ESXi/vSphere and WorkStation)
  • Experience with programming languages (PHP, C/C++, etc)
  • Experience with MySQL
  • Experience with Linux package management (RPMs, etc)

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Standard office environment
  • Temporarily Remote during COVID
  • Full Time – 40 hours/week
  • Must have flexibility to work more than standard 8-hour days occasionally
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
